Salt & Honey Catering Enjoys Sweet and Savory Success

Olivia Colt remembers the first time she made a recipe on her own: she was nine years old, watching Martha Stewart whip up homemade mayonnaise on television.

"I was so proud to show my mother what I had created when she got home from work," she said. "She loved it. I always attribute that moment of seeing her joy, and the pleasure of sharing something truly delicious, to igniting my passion for cooking and feeding others."

Colt aspired right there and then to go to culinary school, then took a detour into majoring in Latin American studies at college. It took a healthy scare, two back-to-back strokes at age 27, to push her towards her childhood dream and eventually launch her catering business, Salt & Honey.

"During my recuperation, I started hosting weekly dinner parties at my home," she said. "Through these 'test' dinners, I was able to ascertain our first two clients, [and] from there Salt & Honey began to take shape and grow into the business it has become today."

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Salt & Honey provides a variety of catering menus chockfull of the freshest, locally sourced produce, meat, and seafood. According to the company's website, their motto is simple: "Take the best ingredients at the height of their season and let them shine." While the dishes are inspired by the natural food sources of Northern California, Colt and her team of chefs derive inspiration from Mexican, French, Italian and Caribbean cuisine. From small bites and sandwiches to wedding entrees, everything on the menu is fresh, nourishing, and delicious.

There's a menu suitable for any size event planned for any time of the day. The Salt & Honey team can easily create a scrumptious breakfast that includes goat cheese scrambled eggs and chia seed oatmeal as adeptly as they can make playful appetizers for a cocktail event.

While the food is definitely a standout, Colt and her team can also assist with nearly all aspects of a wedding or other special event. The company's wedding specialists can set up the decor, coordinate the rehearsal and ceremony, research venues and so much more.

Salt & Honey also provides a less formal catering service called To-Go. S&H To-Go is ideal for working lunches or when a client needs no-fuss, healthy meal options on a tighter deadline such as gourmet snacks, sandwiches, salads, and more. As with all S&H menus, To-Go can be customized to meet dietary needs. To-Go is delivered with recyclable and compostable materials, making cleanup a snap.

Salt & Honey has been in business for six years, and Colt hopes to continue to delight her clients for years to come. No matter what size function they are hired for, S&H's attention to detail and customer service ensure that everyone enjoys the event.

"We want our clients to be guests at their own party," Colt said. "We want each party we cater to feel like a dinner party full of amazing cocktails, great company and delicious and beautiful food.
