IB Strong Is Transforming Bodies and Lives

By Pamela Sosnowski

There are fitness trainers, and then there are trainers such as Ivan Batinich. The list of his qualifications is impressive; he was a star athlete in high school and college, playing division 1 football and AIFA professional indoor football. He has a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology, and holds a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Batinich is also an undefeated, licensed MMA (mixed martial arts) competitor and holds several certificates in personal training. Now he's sharing his expertise and helping others achieve their personal and physical best with his own San Jose gym, IB Strong.

"IB Strong is the evolution of Ivan Batinich personal training," he explains. "I was doing mobile independently contracted training for about 10 years while pursuing other interests. During that time I competed in collegiate and professional athletics, finished my degree, and was able to refine my craft. IB Strong is a place for one to fully pursue athletic and lifestyle based fitness requirements."

IB Strong offers several classes in boot camp style, boxing, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu as well as personalized training. In January 2017 the gym will be launching the I Believe Express Program, which Batinich describes as a "fast paced 45-minute class focusing on fat loss and improving aesthetics."

The gym isn't just for aspiring middleweights, however. Batinich has several clients that have worked one-on-one with him to get their pre-baby body back, or get into serious shape after several years of being a couch potato. He has also worked with an 11 year-old that wanted to improve his strength and speed while wrestling competitively in school.

His gym has the distinction of having all five-star reviews left on Yelp including the hidden ones, from highly satisfied clients that rave about his knowledge, techniques, supportiveness, and personalized approach. "Ivan is one of the best trainers in the Bay Area," says one customer. "He doesn't go with fads that come and go; he sticks to traditional and results-driven exercises."

Students will encounter a variety of workout equipment at IB Strong; a mix of old school and the newest innovative tools including kettle balls, squat racks, Olympic platforms, yokes, sleds, mono lifts, and dumbbells weighing up to 200 pounds. Batinich is always thinking about his customers' needs and makes sure there is something for everyone to train with. He and his staff are also attentive, going out of their way to assist clients and answer their questions.

"We focus on personal goal oriented fitness and character development," he says. "Primarily our focus is on health and movement restoration with an emphasis on building muscle and improving strength. Developing accountability in terms of doing the small things daily is the pillar of our program."
