Classic Cars West: Built from a Passion for Vintage Cars

By Elisha Neubauer

Classic Cars West in Oakland, CA calls itself a "boutique vintage car dealership," blending vintage cars with art in a unique space. It's both a gallery and a car lover's mecca, carrying a unique inventory ranging from European sports cars to American muscle and prewar vehicles.

As a child, owner Michael Sarcona was completely enamored with cars. This passion never cooled, and as an adult, Sarcona decided to follow it, finding employment with a vintage car dealer in New York. After getting his feet wet, he jumped in. He moved to San Francisco and rented a small shop. After restoring and reselling rare muscle cars, he developed a reputation and suddenly found himself in need of a larger shop. Four years later, he moved into an even larger location in the Oakland area.

When asked what "drives" Classic Cars West, Sarcona replies, "The motivation was my interest in a variety of things- cars, art, and art related events. I wanted to combine all three as well as diversifying income opportunities." The gallery exhibits within CCW currently change bi-monthly and customers and gallery patrons alike rave about the location on online reviewing sites such as Yelp. "The staff is super friendly and they have some pretty killer art hanging in this space. Make sure to make a trek to see it," one customer says. "There is nothing like art and cars together in one space."

If you're looking for a distinctive venue for an event, Classic Cars West is available for rentals. One of San Francisco's most electrifying settings, CCW is a raw, flexible scene for any event. The building boasts over 6,000 square feet of indoor space with an impressive 4,000 additional space in an outdoor beer garden. The beer garden is highlighted by some of Oakland's most striking street art murals, making it an exhilarating backdrop.

Classic Cars West is a unique location for those who appreciate contemporary art- and artfully-designed automobiles. You can enjoy local craft beer and sausages in the beer garden, admire the fantastic street art murals, stroll through the indoor gallery, and admire the vintage and collectable cars.
